You don’t need to know Osose to know that she’s got a heart made of gold, and that most of that heart is dedicated to caring about her community. It’s clear from her career path, the fact that she’s the president of the Student National Medical Association, her choice to travel to Flint, MI to serve an underserved community and her constant support of others via her social media. She’s got compassion and love in heaps, and despite her very, very long list of accomplishments, this is just the beginning for her — she’s got some seriously amazing things coming.
EVERY PERSON HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE THEIR LIFE AND THE WORLD EACH AND EVERY DAY.
WHAT CHARACTERISTICS DO YOU THINK EVERY MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL NEEDS TO SUCCEED? You need to have grace. Grace for yourself as you continue to study to learn more about your craft, grace for your patients as they come to you at their most vulnerable moments, and grace for the process of bettering yourself as you show up every day.
WHAT ATTRIBUTES DO YOU HAVE IN ABUNDANCE THAT HAVE ALLOWED YOU TO SUCCEED? I have God-given JOY deep down in my heart. It bubbles up and overflows even on the worst days. I can find something good in every situation and I think that has truly helped me through some rough times.
WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE GIVING UP – IF YOU EVER FEEL THAT WAY – WHAT DO YOU DO TO RISE ABOVE? I say all the negative thoughts out loud so my friends and family can slap me and remind me what the truth is. God didn’t bring me this far to leave me. He brought me here to serve in this specific way, to lighten the burden of my patients, to support underserved communities. I remember my purpose, and it brings me back on track.
I BELIEVE THAT… Each day is a gift. Use it wisely.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN LIFE IS… To figure out what your purpose is, your calling, and go after it. You are needed on this earth for that very reason.
