Jake T., MD — The New Icons

Jake has always felt an enormous sense of pride for his profession and each morning as the Urology Resident put on his layers of PPE to face another day in the ER in New York, NY, treating patients battling COVID-19, his pride swelled beyond measure. Reflecting on what’s transpired, Jake knows that by collaborating, learning and commisterating with his fellow residents and patients he’s building the way forward and changing lives. While difficult, he says this experience has solidified his belief that he has the best job in the world.

EVERY PERSON HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE THEIR LIFE AND THE WORLD EACH AND EVERY DAY.

2020 HAS BEEN A TOUGH YEAR ACROSS THE BOARD – HOW ARE YOU TACKLING IT? WHAT HAS IT TAUGHT YOU?

Empathetic heart, strong work ethic, honesty, kindness, hunger to learn

2020 HAS BEEN A TOUGH YEAR ACROSS THE BOARD – HOW ARE YOU TACKLING IT? WHAT HAS IT TAUGHT YOU?

Taking it one day at a time. I am doing as much yoga and introspection as I can, to reflect on my role in helping build the way forward.

WHAT DOES A WIN LOOK LIKE FOR YOU? WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?

A patient who smiles back at you and says “Thanks doc, you changed my life.”

I WAS PUT ON THIS EARTH TO…Help cure cancer.

EVERYDAY I WAKE UP AND...Find a moment of gratitude.
